The human form is the most familiar and the most elusive object to capture. A clothed subject is relatively easy to get away with but, nude, the body is revealed and so too is the painter. It is a revelation of his/her ability to understand and recognize the complex forms of the human body – the solid shapes of our bones and the curvature of our muscles. Translating those three dimensional shapes onto the two dimensional surface of the canvas is challenging and exciting.
